Little about Wallis Bird could be described as typical. Having enjoyed a ‘blissfully happy’ childhood in Wexford she headed to Dublin as soon as she finished school.
At 23 she moved to Germany for a year, enjoying success with her debut single, ‘Blossoms In The Street’ (2006), which spent twenty weeks in the German airplay charts and earned her a deal with Island Records in the UK. She moved next to London, releasing her debut album, ‘Spoons’, in 2008, while ‘New Boots’, its 2009 follow-up, earned her a Meteor Award as Best Newcomer. She describes her new release ‘Home’ as ‘the happy ending’ and a ‘thank you letter’ to her partner. Bird will launch the album in September, returning to her roots with a series of intimate performances in small venues. We are delighted that this vivacious, joyful and colourful talent will join the bill for TradFest 2018.Wallis Bird ON YOUTUBE
